Learn about Robin and Alex's climbing/coaching history

An icon of our sport. Alex started climbing at the age of 13, by 16 Alex was National (Adult) Bouldering Champion. Over the next 18 years, Alex won 11 National Bouldering Championships making her the most successful US competitor in history.

Alex has also won 2 x world cups and been on the podium more times than she can remember. She is one of the most successful competition climbers of all time

Although Alex climbed on rock since she started climbing, she shifted her focus from competition climbing in 2014. Since then, Alex has sent over 240 V11/8As and above, including 39(!) V13/8Bs and an incredible 8 V14/8B+s which makes her the most successful female boulderer of all time.

Alex has been coaching since she became a professional climber at the age of 16 – including many of the world’s top athletes. She has coached beginners and professionals alike all over the world, but in Jan 2020 she launched her professional coaching business taking on clients full-time.

Alex has a wealth of knowledge to share including top tips and tricks that have helped her rise to the top. Although Alex loves writing training programmes, she has an outright passion for movement coaching – be it for beginners or elite athletes. Seeing the flaws that are holding them back from their goals. Alex cannot wait to be your coach and help you achieve your goals.

 

ROBIN O’LEARY

Robin has been writing training programmes, profiling athletes, coaching individuals and teams as well as hosting and running clinics since the very beginning. He has been the head coach of Great Britain’s Para-Climbing Team (2015-2021) and worked with many athletes form the senior and junior team over the past decade too.

Robin launched ROCUP holidays in 2014 and the Youth Climbing Symposium in 2017 – both of which are coaching companies dedicated to sharing knowledge and developing our sport. He has a passion for coaching – often spending 70+ hours a week with clients online and in person. He loves learning and researching about training for climbing. Whether deriving from other sports, from discussing topics with other coaches or purely empirically from evidence of his own testing and programmes. Whatever the case, Robin will be able to help you achieve your goals. He will both learn about and teach you about your body and how it responds to different stimulus. He will be integrated with all of the nuances of your assessments, training and climbing and be psyched to hear about your personal best hangs just as much as your personal best sends.

Whether you want to send your first V0, want to be National, Continental or World Champion or want to send V14+ and 9b/5.15a (and above), Robin has experience in helping others doing just that.
He is psyched to be your coach!

Robin has climbed V12 and 8b/5.13d, he has also onsighted E6 trad and climbed E7.
